The Snowbird Resort has excellent facilities and services for skiers and snowboarders. Most of these are housed at the main base at the Snowbird Center/tram building which includes shops, equipment rentals and repairs, ticket sales and eateries.

Another small base is at the Creekside Lodge (Gad Valley base) near the Gadzoom and mid-Gad chairs, which has ticket sales and a small shop with equipment rentals and accessories. Creekside is a good base for day trippers and those with beginners in the group.

Snowbird Ski Rentals and Snowbird Rental

Snowbird has three resort owned equipment rental outlets. The shop in the Snowbird Center has very basic gear that is aimed at beginners, and the shop at Creekside has similar gear. Higher performance skis and snowboards can be found at Cliff Sports on level 1 of The Cliff Lodge, including demos and powder skis.

Another option for Snowbird ski rentals and snowboard hire is at Christy Sports on level 3 of the Snowbird Center. They have a huge range of gear for rent. Nearby Snowbird Sports have demo rentals.

If you’ve ruined your skis or snowboard on the nasty rocks, there are various shops for a tune, wax and patch.

Facilities for Children

Snowbird has a state licensed childcare facility on level 1 of the Cliff Lodge, providing day care for babies from 6 weeks old to children 12 years of age. The Snowbird child care is reasonably priced. If you’re not staying at the Cliff Lodge, it can be a bit of a trudge to get there.

Evening babysitting can be provided by for overnight guests staying at any of the four lodges at Snowbird (The Cliff Lodge, The Lodge at Snowbird, The Inn at Snowbird, and Iron Blosam Lodge).

Snowbird Ski School

The Snowbird Mountain School is large and well established, and provides a range of programs. Adult group lessons go for 2.5 hours and have a maximum of 8 per group. Of particular note, the Snowbird ski school runs guiding programs to show you some of the great spots and you also get priority lift access.

Snowbird Resort offers very inexpensive beginners’ packages that include a lesson, lift ticket and equipment rentals.

The school runs a variety of programs for children. Chickadees lessons (full or half day) are for 3 year old skiers with a 1:1 ratio of instructor to child, with an associated price tag. For 4-6 year olds, the group sizes have a maximum of 3 children, whilst for 7-15 year olds ability-matched group lessons are held. All lesson prices are in line with general Utah prices. The lessons are for the full day, and include a fully supervised lunch. Reservations are required.

Eating On Mountain

The highlight of on-mountain dining at Snowbird Resort is The Summit located up on Hidden Peak at the top of the tram. The glass enclosed structure offers spectacular views of the Wasatch Mountains, and the food is many steps up from the greasy stodge you usually find at ski resort cafeterias.

Mid-mountain is Mid-Gad Lodge which has a self-service restaurant serving usual ski resort cafeteria fare. There is also an espresso bar serving hot beverages and various accompanying treats.

Otherwise, various day-time eateries are located at the base of the tram area serving breakfast, lunch and snacks. The Forklift opposite the tram building has table service with reasonably priced hot breakfasts, and soups, sandwiches and burgers for a leisurely lunch. The outlook is very pleasant and the décor that screams 70s style includes a round fireplace.

For a faster paced lunch, great value pasta dishes and salads can be found at The Rendezvous. Gourmet pizzas are available at a pizzeria, and Birdfeeder has hot beverages, snacks, hot dogs and chilli.
